Belize

Belize, like many Caribbean nations, is home to a vibrant and resilient healthcare system that reflects the cultural richness and diversity of its people. Physicians and healthcare professionals across the island are on the front lines of care, delivering essential health services from urban centres to rural communities.

Family physicians in Belize are trusted members of the community, often serving as the first point of contact for individuals and families. They manage a wide range of medical conditions, provide continuity of care, promote preventive health, and play a key role in patient education and chronic disease management.

The healthcare system typically includes both public and private sectors, with government-supported clinics and hospitals working alongside private medical practices. Family physicians, general practitioners, nurses, and allied health professionals collaborate to ensure that care remains patient-centred, culturally appropriate, and accessible.

The CCFP chapter in Belize is dedicated to promoting professional development, strengthening primary care, and supporting the wellbeing of physicians through CME activities, community outreach, and peer networking.

We celebrate the contributions of every healthcare professional in Belize, and we look forward to sharing stories, updates, and events from this chapter.
